OK - let's take the internet out of it for a moment; it's simply an alternative medium for data movement. How about if you have a CD and lend it to a friend (you are effectively moving the data from yourself to him)?
He gives it back a couple of days later without comment.
How do you know for a fact that he - or anyone else who may have had access to it while it was out of your sight - didn't make a copy of it?
It's YOUR CD - you paid good money for it.
You simply can't tell that the CD has been copied through looking at it or even playing it.
That copy can then be shared without you ever knowing it exists.

Makes no difference what people think of me, but you may try to get a handle on how the internet works with regard to shifting data around.
I won't give you any pointers to ensure I don't try and "lead you up the garden path".
There are other "experts" on here you may trust more to guide you.
Give this some thought though.
Maybe we both have an identical CD in our music collections. Is yours a copy of mine, or mine a copy of yours? How do you know?

I spent about an hour trying to get through to the tax office today. They kept cutting me off. I tried a last throw of the dice when asked by the robot why I was calling. I said "I am gay and I want to be a woman". The reply was "ok you want to talk to someone about a letter". I got through to someone 30mins later and solved my problem. Just saying if you want to jump a queue............

You need to look at the T&C for when you share/upload data and with whom.
For most - if not all - social media sites, when you "share" or upload something/anything, you effectively also hand all legal control at that point of whatever it was over to whoever you shared with/uploaded to.
That means, legally, it's not technically "yours" any more and they can do with it as they see fit (sell it for profit, basically).
Also, if you ask a social media company to delete all your data, they won't do so, whatever they say.
They'll make it inaccessible to search engines and such like, so you can't see it any more, but will still own and use what they have to make money.
Even if you still retain legal ownership - once it's "out there" it's almost impossible to manage as you can't tell how many copies exist at any given time.
No point in asking the search engine owners to locate it - no money in doing that.
